US president declares state of emergency in Florida

The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, approved the declaration of a state of calamity in Florida due to the weather forecasts between April 12 and 14.

The White House reported this Friday that President Joe Biden approved the declaration of State of calamity in Florida due to stormstornadoes and flooding that affected the state between April 12 and 14.

The statement directs that aid be sent to affected areas, especially Broward, including allocation of subsidies for temporary housing and home repair, low-interest unsecured property loss loans, and other programs.

In addition, the Government makes available to the authorities and private non-profit entities active on the ground all the resources to repair or replace damaged facilities.

The announcement coincides with the forecasts of storms, strong winds and tornadoes that are expected to hit regions from the state of Texas to North Carolina. Given these forecasts, the White House said that additional emergency declarations could be made if they were requested by the states and justified by the results of the assessments of the damage suffered.
