Ivo Oliveira handed over the yellow card to Lazkano, who was part of the decisive breakaway and was the fastest on the 185.2-kilometre route between Saint-Mars-sur-Colmont and Lassay-les-Châteaux.

The Portuguese cyclist Ivo Oliveira fell this Friday to second place overall in the French Boucles de la Mayenne race, one day after winning the prologue, in the first online stage, won by the Spanish Oier Lazkano (Movistar).

Lazkano was part of the decisive breakaway and was the fastest in the 185.2 kilometer link between Saint-Mars-sur-Colmont and Lassay-les-Châteaux, completed in 4h29.07 hours, 31 seconds faster than other escapees, with the French Célestin Guillon (Van Rysel-Roubaix Lille) in second place and the Danish Jacob Hindsgaul (One-X ) in third.

The peloton reached 41 seconds, with Ivo Oliveira, who had even tried to break away in the first half of the stage, finishing 28th, which earned him relegation to second place overall, giving yellow to Lazkano at 42 seconds.

Twin brother and teammate Rui Oliveira is now ranked 85th after Ivo’s work, with André Carvalho (Cofidis) moving up to 101st.

On Saturday, the third and penultimate day of the ProSeries race, second only to the WorldTour, connects Saint-Berthevin with Meslay-du-Maine over 181.3 kilometres, mostly flat.
