“We are not in a government of national unity, we are in a government of the legislature,” stressed Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

According to the head of state, PAI-Terra Ranka with “his majority must show the people of Guinea-Bissau and the people who elected him what he is capable of”.

“If due to an error in judgment they go to look for Madem or the PRS or the PTG, they are going to have problems in their field, it is not worth going to the seer, to find out that they are going to have problems,” he said.

Umaro Sissoco Embaló also called for a “solid” and “responsible” parliament, assuring Guineans that it will be a “new experience.”

In the message to the Nation, the Guinean president thanked the international observation missions present in the country for their “interest” and “dedication”, contributing to “reinforcing the credibility of the electoral process and of Guinean democracy itself.”

Umaro Sissoco Embaló also thanked the friendly countries and international organizations for the support given to the Government to make the elections “free, fair and transparent, a moment of national unity and consolidation of the Democratic State of Law”.

The Guinean Workers’ Party (PTG), created at the end of 2021 and led by Botche Candé, obtained six deputies in its electoral debut.

The big loser in the legislative elections is the Assembly of the United People’s Democratic Party of Guinea-Bissau, headed by outgoing Prime Minister Nuno Gomes Nabiam, which won only one deputy, when in 2019 it elected five deputies.
