Follow on our liveblog all the reactions to the death of Silvio Berlusconi

“I am a very funny person, full of life. I love life, I love women.” This was the response of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi when confronted on the sidelines of a 2011 European Union summit with rumors that a 17-year-old girl had been at one of his “Bunga Bunga” sex parties. Without ever confirming that he was involved with the young woman, the former Italian ruler nevertheless guaranteed that “nothing”, not even the pressure of public exposure, would make him change his “lifestyle”, something that he even said was ” proud”.

“I have a terrible life, it takes a superhuman effort to manage it. I work until half past two in the morning, go to bed and wake up at seven. Sometimes I need an afternoon to relax, to tell some jokes”, justified Silvio Berlusconi to the journalists, who died this Monday at the age of 86. With a life spent in the corridors of power and having amassed a considerable fortune during his lifetime, the former ruler had no qualms about having fun, and almost always in the company of A lot of women. All this made him add several scandals throughout his career.
