A man killed an airport border policeman and a security officer when he was banned from entering Moldova on a flight from Turkey. A third person was injured.
A man who was banned from entering Moldova at Chisinau International Airport shot and killed two people with a gun that was at the border police office, the country’s interior minister has revealed.
Airport authorities say the shooting began when the man was banned from entering Moldova. The gunman was injured and detained by police, according to the BBC. According to Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the suspect is 43 years old and is from Tajikistan, one of the former republics of the former Soviet Union.
President Maia Sandu said that the two dead were an airport border policeman and a security officer. A third person was injured.
The man landed on a flight from Turkey and was denied entry into the country. According to a government spokesperson, the suspect took a seized gun from the police office the border and killed two people.

Moldova is on high alert after the president accused Russia of collusion use “spoilers” with the aim of overthrowing the pro-EU government. This warning came in February after 12 Serbian soccer fans were banned from entering the country through the capital’s airport. A group of boxers from Montenegro were also ordered to return to the country. Serbia and Montenegro are close to Russia. The Kremlin has denied allegations of a conspiracy that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says was intercepted by kyiv.
Moldova has a population of 2.6 million and is a candidate for membership of the European Union, but it has one region, Transnistria, whose population is largely pro-Russian.
