The UK admits the “realistic possibility” that the Kremlin will no longer finance the Wagner group
The daily newsletter of UK Defense Intelligence Services focuses on the Wagner group this Sunday.
After the June riot, the British Defense foresees the probability that the mercenary group is undergoing a process of “resizing and reconfiguration, mainly to save on salary expenses at a time of financial pressure”.
On June 23, the Wagner group began a march on Moscow, in rebellion against the Kremlin. The military column was only 200 kilometers from the Russian capital.

The British Defense notes that since that mutiny, Russia has been against “several of the interests of the owner of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin”, who was once seen as one of Vladimir Putin’s allies. After the riots, “there is a realistic possibility that the Kremlin is no longer funding the group,” says the UK Defense.
“If the Russian state no longer pays the Wagner group, the second most plausible financiers are the Belarusian authorities,” it can be read. Still, British intelligence believes there will be a “significant and potentially unwanted depletion of modest Belarusian resources.”

Russia says it shot down a drone over Belgorod
Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had intercepted a drone strike over Belgorod overnight on Sunday.
In Telegram it is said that “around 4 o’clock [1 hora em Lisboa]A drone was intercepted over the Belgorod region, which is about 40 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
“Russia’s defense systems detected and destroyed” the drone, the Russian ministry says, adding that there were no injuries or damage.
Russia attributes responsibility for the attack to kyiv. No confirmation on the subject has come from kyiv, as has happened in other situations.
