The Italian footballer Marco Verratti signed a contract with Al-Arabi SC, from Qatar, ending a cycle of 11 consecutive years at the service of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the French club announced this Wednesday.
The 30-year-old Italian international midfielder, PSG’s starter in recent years, was not included in the options of the new coach, former Spanish coach Luís Enrique.
Club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi praised the player in a public statement, writing that he “played an important role in the great history” of PSG.
For his part, the footballer, whose contract extension with Al-Arabi SC was not revealed, also said goodbye on social networks: “Paris, the club and its fans will always have a very special place in my heart. I will be a Parisian forever.”
