Bomb threat: the PSP did not find any explosive device at the Trindade station. Traffic resumed

The PSP evacuated the Trindade metro station in Porto due to a bomb threat. About two hours later, “the alert was not confirmed” and traffic resumed.

The Porto PSP did not find any explosive device at the Trindade metro station and traffic, interrupted this Friday after a bomb threat, was restored, a police source said. To the Lusa agency, a source from the Porto PSP assured, at 5:30 p.m., that “the alert was not confirmed” and that traffic had been restored at that station.

The Trindade metro station was evacuated due to a bomb threat, the alert for which was given to the authorities at 3:30 p.m. through a call made to the emergency number (112).

Various resources were mobilized to the site, including PSP device detection and inactivation teams, which carried out an evaluation of the station. The threat forced the creation of a security perimeter in the vicinity of the Trindade station. Even so, Rádio Observador confirmed to a local establishment that the business was still open. According to Fernando Nunes, while the security forces were at the scene, there were many people outside who were leaning against a wall waiting for news. A different attitude from the moment when “people started running to get out of the station” when the bomb alert was given.

In this area of central Porto, traffic also continued to circulate normally, and even the City Hall – which is located next to the Trindade station – kept services running regularly, a source from the municipality revealed to Rádio Observador. The subway ran on all lines until the previous station.
