Hezbollah claims 200-rocket attack in northern Israel

Hours after the Israeli army announced the death of a Hezbollah commander, the Lebanese movement launched dozens of rockets with heavy warheads at northern Israel.

The Lebanese Shiite armed group Hezbollah claimed on Thursday an attack with more than 200 projectiles against five military targets in northern Israel in response to Wednesday’s Israeli bombardment.

The Israeli attack resulted in the death of Commander Mohamed Niamah Nasseof Hezbollah (Party of God) in Lebanon. The Israeli army has not yet commented on the Hezbollah attack.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army acknowledged killing Mohammad Naameh Nasser, who headed one of Hezbollah’s three regional divisions in southern Lebanon.

Hours later, Hezbollah launched dozens of Katyusha and Falaq rockets with heavy warheads at northern Israel and the Golan Heights.

On Thursday, according to the Associated Press news agency, Hezbollah continued to fire artillery rockets at Israel.

The United States and France continue to maintain efforts to prevent artillery attacks from escalating into direct war.who fear it could spread regionally.

Israel is already engaged in a war against the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, sparked by the October 7 attacks in which more than 1,000 Israelis were killed and more than 200 people were kidnapped.

According to health authorities in Hamas-controlled Gaza, Israeli retaliation has already killed some 38,000 people.
