Air Force monitored 4 Russian vessels in national waters on third mission of the week

This is the third surveillance mission of foreign vessels carried out by the Air Force this week, after having identified a total of seven vessels.

On Friday, the Portuguese Air Force monitored the passage of four Russian-flagged vessels through national waters, including a submarine, bringing the number of missions carried out this year to 17, three of which were carried out this week.

In a statement, the branch of the Armed Forces indicated that the monitoring mission lasted three hours and monitored a refueling ship, a submarine, an auxiliary ship and a Russian-flagged training ship.

The mission took place during an inspection of fishing activities and Air Force aircraft monitored the replenishment ship Vice Admiral PAROMOV as it transited South-North while the submarine Novorossiysk and the auxiliary ship Evgeniy Churov transited North-South, the force said.

“During the mission, it was also detected that the training ship KRUZENSHTERN was carrying out a North-South transit,” the Air Force added.

This year, the Air Force has already spent more than 60 hours monitoring foreign vessels in a total of 17 missions, three of which have been carried out this week.

On Monday and Tuesday, the Air Force monitored the passage of three Russian ships through national waters.

In a statement released Wednesday, the Air Force said it “has been monitoring vessels flying the flag of the Russian Federation, having monitored three vessels in the past two days.”
