Nisrin Humaidan: Tarab and Music

To celebrate “Music Day” which falls on June 21 of each year, the Al-Sabil Association will hold a musical night, hosted by Nasrin Humaidan (pictured), tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Public Library named after him. Municipality of Beirut ”in Bachour. Nisrin will sing some tarab songs to the accompaniment of percussionist Naji Aridi. Humaidan is a Lebanese singer and oud player, winner of the “Best Voice” award at the 2006 Mediterranean Festival, as well as several awards ceremonies. He has also performed at several opera houses, including those in Egypt and Tunisia, in addition to participating in various cultural festivals.

Abbas Beydun: Poem for “Sour”

On the occasion of the publication of the second edition of “Sour” by Lebanese poet and novelist Abbas Beidun (1945 – photo) at the House of Arab Renaissance publishing house, the latter spent an evening reading and signing a book on isthmus . The piece is an epic with a rising, flowing hymn composed by Beidun in 1974 to sing the southern city of Tire, rising from the sea through intense visual imagery. The evening will feature a presentation by writer and director Dar Al-Nahda Lina Kreidy, followed by poetry readings, and the meeting will end with a book signing.

“Pressure Cooker”: Back to Hamra

Many years ago, the pressure cooker rock band was founded, whose name is derived from the political and social pressures faced by Arab youth today. Through words that transcend language and are rebellious, violating standard vocabulary, the group expresses their intense resentment at what sometimes stops and sometimes explodes. The band, which has several albums to the credit, will head to Metro Al-Madina next Saturday for a concert. In it, Khaled Omran (pictured) will perform a bouquet of the band’s famous pieces called “Taht El Taqt” accompanied by Tariq Al-Khaluki on guitar and Danny Shukri on drums.
