The states of Tunisia and Sousse have banned the animated film Lightyear (directed by Angus McLean-105 d-produced by Disney-Pixar) in theaters under the pretext that it included “gay scenes”, which caused controversy . in human rights and cultural circles.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Sousse Governor Nabil Ferjani said in a statement on local Radio Mosaic that “it has been decided to ban the screening of Light Year in a cinema hall in one of the major commercial areas because it includes homosexual scenes”, stating that “the decision was adopted after consultation with the Ministry of Culture.
For its part, the Tunisian state announced the suspension of the film’s release in theaters, warning against “violation of legal texts adopted in implementation of the decision to stop screening.”
In light of the two moves, Tunisian actress Reem Hamrouni criticized the incident, stating on social media, “Congratulations to the cinema that Mr Wali loves.”

Regarding journalist Alaa Zatour, he said: “Tunisia has joined the list of Islamic countries banning the film“ The Bright Year ”in theaters because of a kiss between two people of the same sex, which is considered of some countries homosexual propaganda. ”
