Earlier this year, the director of the Arabic section of German Arabic-language channel Deutsche Welle (DW), Nasser Sharrouf, resigned from his position following a dismissal process conducted by the network against a group of its employees, including the former director of the Beirut office Basil Al-Aridi and the journalist David Ibrahim. That day, Sharruf announced his resignation from the position of head of the Arab department, which he held for many years, but decided to remain on the German residency team, especially in the strategic studies department. .

Thus, DW has entered a new stage in finding a journalist to run the Arab department, which is experiencing many problems, especially from the spontaneous accusation by some employees of “anti-Semitism” against the backdrop of their position. in support of the Palestinian cause. This led the German network to approve new employment contracts that say employees agree to “Israel’s right to exist!”
A few months after Scharruf’s resignation, DW finally announced the appointment of German journalist Jan Kohlmann as his successor, who will take over from early 2023.
In this context, the radio station said in a news article published on its social media pages that Coleman had studied history and worked as director of the Beirut office of the German Press Agency (DPA) for eight years. years, as well as coverage of various events in Lebanon, Turkey, Afghanistan and other countries.
