Poll: economy, immigration – list of the most important questions of the 2022 election

The economy and immigration are top priorities for Americans ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, according to a survey released Friday by the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The survey asked respondents to identify the issue that will be most important to them when nominating candidates for the 2022 midterm elections.

Overall, 32 percent of respondents top the list, citing the economy as their main concern. It remains the top issue for all parties as well, with the majority of Democrats (22 percent), Republicans (45 percent), and Independents (37 percent) choosing it as their top issue.

In total, 13 percent of respondents cite immigration as the most important problem, followed by abortion (12 percent), healthcare (10 percent) and climate change (10 percent). No other questions received double-digit support from all respondents.

Democrats chose climate change as the second most important issue with 20 percent, followed by abortion with 18 percent.

Immigration came in second place for Republicans, with 25 percent choosing it as their top issue. Besides the economy, 14 percent of independents chose healthcare as their top priority, followed by immigration with 13 percent.
