Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives agree that by 2023 the GOP majority will press for President Donald Trump to reverse the border policy, GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik Breitbart told News.

Marlowe asked him about the Republican Party’s reaction to the Border Correction Settlement Plan, recently developed by a mix of different immigration reform groups. The reconciliation plan outlines the steps needed to curb illegal border transfers and was formally presented to 11 to 150 GOP lawmakers, including Stefanik and GOP leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
“Is there anything that might be the highlight of an agreed document or package that may be presented next year?” Marlow asked Stefanik.
Stefanik replied:

Stefanik’s support for Trump’s return to politics is remarkable, in part because many GOP donors vehemently oppose Trump’s border restrictions.
Overall, Wall Street investors and state-level business leaders benefit from the large influx of imported buyers, tenants, and workers. But GOP voters are beaten by any influx because immigrants charge fees while increasing housing costs.
The influx of government-led immigrants is also driving investment and wealth from outside communities, as coastal investors reduce the need to take people to, say, the Stefanic region of New York or Alabama. Decreased investment in central cities lowers their income, property values and social status compared to coastal cities, which attract legal and illegal immigrants.
These conflicting demands are forcing GOP politicians to toss between donors and voters. But in 2021 and 2022, Stefanik and other GOP leaders went the extra mile for their populist constituency by blocking some more immigrant, civil and farm worker amnesties, green cards, and some donor-backed requests from Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Russia and Ukraine. visa programs for white collar workers.

The plan also provides funding to recruit border guards, build a wall, extend detention, and end the entrapment and release of economic migrants. Congress should exclude victims of commercial crime from asylum benefits, ban the easy issuance of work permits to immigrants, narrow limits on lawsuits against immigration courts, and allow states that help enforce federal immigration law.
