Biden’s America: A third says high gas prices are affecting his Memorial Day plans

According to an Emerson College poll released this week, one-third of Americans said their Memorial Day plans were influenced by President Biden’s high gas prices in America.

The poll showed a 52 percent majority disagreed with Biden’s performance as the country grappled with runaway inflation and posted high gas prices:

The economy was the top concern for 49% of voters, followed by crime with 12% and healthcare with 11%. Since the April nationwide survey, the economy and crime have increased by nine points, respectively.

The survey showed that Biden’s policies had a direct impact on the daily lives of Americans, with 33 percent saying they had to change or cancel their plans for the Memorial Day weekend because of the high gas price. The news came when the US hit the national average of $4,600 per gallon on Thursday, setting another record, according to Breitbart News:

On Thursday, the national average gas price hit $4.60, reflecting an increase of nearly 47 cents over the past month. To put it in broader perspective, a year ago the national average gas price was $3,035.

In some states, prices are above the national average. These states are Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Illinois, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Hawaii, Alaska, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and California. The highest average gas price in the country is $6,070.

Industry experts expect the situation to only worsen during the “hard summer”, with the average gas price forecast to exceed $6 per gallon.

The Emerson College survey was conducted on May 24-25, 2022, on 1,148 registered voters, with a margin of error of +/- 2.8%.

This is not the only indication that Biden’s policies have directly affected Americans negatively. In May’s Harvard-Harris poll, 68% of respondents said the economy was on the wrong track and 56% said their finances were worsening, compared to 23% who said the same last year. Interestingly, 56 percent said their financial situation was deteriorating, the highest recorded in this survey.
