Agricultural and livestock electricity bill supported with 20 million euros in 2022

The Institute for Financing Agriculture and Fisheries (IFAP) has 20 million euros available this year to support the electricity costs of agricultural and livestock farms, according to an order from the Ministries of Finance and Agriculture, published this Wednesday.

If the total amount calculated for the applications submitted exceeds the allocation available, the title determines that the aid amounts to be granted are subject to proration.

The allocation of financial support depends on the formalization of an application “at the end of June”under the conditions defined in the ordinance, in a form that will be made available by FIPA.

The IFAP pays the support directly to the beneficiary, with a deadline of September 30 for the support calculated in the 1st and 2nd quarter, December 31 for the 3rd quarter and until March 31 of the following year pays the support calculated in the 4th quarter of the previous year.

No request for support, or candidate had to authorize the IFAP to obtain, together with the energy supplier, the values ​​of consumption and contracted power and consult their tax and contributory situation together, respectively, with the Tax and Customs Authority (AT) and the Institute of Social Security.

In mid-March, the Government regulated this support for the electricity costs of agricultural and livestock farms, attribution of the support of 10% of the invoice to the farms whose available information would not allow to determine the size.

This measure to support the costs of electricity in the agricultural sector was created in June 2021 and came into force in January, corresponding to 20% of the value of the invoice for farms of up to 50 hectares or cattle farms of up to 80 normal heads and 10% of the invoice for farms with more than 50 hectares or more than 80 normal heads.

This support for the electricity bill is defined annually, by means of an executive decree based on exceptional circumstances associated with the increase in energy prices, with the aim of offsetting the costs of electricity consumption, in which the annual allocation for support will be defined. , this year of 20 million euros.
