Comboios de Portugal (CP) made this Saturday a recommendation to passengers to make their trips early in the morning or late in the day, due to the heat wave that is felt.
In a notice on its website, the company explains that, due to the heat wave forecast for the next few days, the comfort conditions on board some trains may not be the most appropriate, especially during the hottest hours.
“If you already have a ticket for the Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, Internacional, InterRegional and Regional services and you want to change your trip”, CP informs you that the value of the purchased ticket can be refunded.
Refunds, explains the company, can be made in myCP, in the “Your tickets” area (for tickets purchased at the box office ‘online’ and App CP), up to 30 minutes before the departure of the train from the station of origin, as as well as at the box office.
In the coming days, continental Portugal will face a situation of persistent heat, which should lead to a heat wave in many areas of the territory.
The forecast points to an increase in temperature, especially the maximum, with values above 35 degrees Celsius expected in most of the territory, reaching values above 40 degrees in the interior, especially in the southern region, as well as in the Tagus and Duero valleys.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Internal Governance (MAI) declared a state of alert due to the “significant increase in the risk of rural fire.”
The alert began at 00:00 on Friday and will be in effect until 23:59 on July 15.
