Journalist and pivot Judite Sousa announced that she “denounced” the contract with the CNN Portugal television channel a month and a half ago. The news was given by herself on social networks in response to one of her followers: “I reported my contract to green receipts a month and a half ago.”
Away from the screens for more than a month due to sick leave, Judite Sousa now says that she is no longer a “public figure.” “I have been a Portuguese citizen for a month and a half who earns her living and pays her taxes,” she wrote.
The exit announced by the social networks surprised all the colleagues of the station on Monday. The Observer tried to contact the information department of CNN Portugal, but so far has not received a response.
The journalist was one of the names that joined the CNN Portugal team, at the beginning of the channel’s broadcast, in November 2021. She was, in fact, the first face of the station, sharing the presentation of the “CNN Journal” to at 9. pm with Júlio Magalhães alternating weekly.
Before, Judite Sousa spent eight years at TVI, after having spent 30 years at RTP.
Pedro Mourinho also leaves
Judite de Sousa is not the only journalist to leave the station. Journalist Pedro Mourinho will also leave CNN and is negotiating a possible “transfer” to CMTV, news reported by Expresso and confirmed by The Observer.
Pedro Mourinho, who is listed on the CNN Portugal website as executive director of new formats and talent, was one of CNN/TVI’s special envoys to the war in Ukraine. In 2020 he moved from SIC, where he spent most of his professional life, to TVI.
