Manchin reversed the previous accusation against Biden. On inflation: “It’s not my job to blame people”

On Tuesday’s CNBC show “Closing Bell,” Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) was asked about who to blame for inflation, “It’s not my job to blame people. If you want to blame people, you won’t get anything. I’m here to make things right.”

Presenter Sarah Eisen said, “In the past, Senator Manchin, you criticized the Federal Reserve for being late and slow in dealing with inflation. Do you think they’re okay now?”

Acknowledging his previous criticism of the Fed, Manchin said, “Well, they’re coming now. They are doing their job now. It was some time before they were kicked out. But they are doing their job. Let’s see what will happen. But basically we can do a lot more by doing it, breaking the energy production chains, letting our oil companies do what they do, letting our gas companies do it – let’s do a few pipelines, do something with it. ”

After Manchin said inflation was bad, Eisen said, “Who owns it, who is to blame for it? fed? Biden’s rule? Congress? You spent $2 trillion at a time [when] America opened?

Manchin said, “Sarah, it’s not my job to blame people. If you want to blame people, you won’t get anything. I’m here to fix things. I don’t know why my Republican friends are upset right now. They are still my friends, they will always be my friends, and we work well together. We did the three things they told me to do. They always say can’t we produce more? Definitely. Can’t we pay the debt? Definitely. Can we simplify the permitting process? Definitely. It’s not poisonous in normal times because people hate each other so much, I love them all. … This is an American account. May the American people win. Sometimes let them win.”

In April 2022, Manchin cited inflation data released that month as “Federal Reserve and [a]Management isn’t acting fast enough, and today’s data is a snapshot of the impact felt across the country.”
