Engie, the main French gas company, is negotiating with the Algerian government to increase its gas supply by 50%, in anticipation of winter, due to the energy shortage caused by the war in Ukraine.
As reported by Europa 1, the negotiations on the increase in gas and liquefied gas in the African country are not yet closed, but will intensify in the coming hours.
Although the official agenda of President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Algeria does not include any gas supply agreement, negotiations continue after the visit.
In President Macron’s entourage on the visit to Algiers and Oran was the CEO of Engie, Catherine McGregor, who met with the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines and with Sonatrach, the Algerian oil and gas company.
Engie is 23% owned by the French state.
