“Uber Files” whistleblower Mark MacGann is one of the speakers at the Web Summit

Mark MacGann, the lobbyist behind the release of documents that revealed controversial Uber practices, is one of the speakers at this year’s Web Summit, taking place November 1-4 in Lisbon.

In a statement released this Tuesday, the technology fair explains that Mark MacGann will be, on the main stage, speaking with Paul Lewis, chief investigative journalist for The Guardian, the newspaper that received the more than 124,000 files showing that the directors of Uber have tried to influence politicians around the world to curry favor, negotiated investment contracts with Russian oligarchs, who are now sanctioned, and took advantage of the violence against the drivers of the platform to use it for their benefit.

The Web Summit mentions that this will be the Mark MacGann’s first live “interview” since he shared the “Uber Files” in July of this year. The lobbyist worked for Uber from 2014 to 2016 with the task of conquering countries and governments in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
