The allocation of the Consolidar Program is doubled to 500 million. Banco de Fomento published, and later deleted, the list of selected candidates

The “strange case” of the list published, and then eliminated, by the Banco Português de Fomento (BPF), was brought to the Economy Commission by the deputy of the Liberal Initiative Carlos Guimarães Pinto. The announcement of the winning candidates of the Consolidar Program is scheduled for this Thursday, but, according to the deputy, it was published on the BPF page during the weekend. He was online for a short time, but long enough to be able to save the record.

“This ad has been removed for a reason that escapes us. It would be interesting to see if it is confirmed and to know why that content was deleted before this hearing, and its announcement was scheduled for after this hearing”, questioned Carlos Guimarães Pinto.

At stake is a program that had an initial allocation of 250 million euros, and which is intended for venture capital companies that want to invest in companies affected by the pandemic. During the hearing, the Minister of Economy announced that the program was in such demand that its endowment was doubled to 500 million euros.

But the strange thing was the publication of the list, distributed to the parliamentary groups and journalists in the room, in advance. Thus, of the 33 applications submitted, with investment intentions of more than 1,300 million euros, 13 have been approved, corresponding to investment operations of 489.8 million euros. The chosen companies must ensure the subscription of funds with a minimum endowment of 40 million euros.
