The new president of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of TAP took office this Friday. Arriving at the airline’s headquarters in Lisbon, Luís Rodrigues told reporters what he was coming for: “I am not a soccer player, nor a movie star. I am a guy who is working here and who has to solve the problems of the passengers and the workers. And for that you have to let me work.”.
Asked about the cut in wages for TAP workers, Luís Rodrigues pointed out that he was still unaware of the “file”. “I have to look at it with love, in detail and talk to the unions, we are all on the same side.”
Luís Rodrigues also guaranteed that he would speak to the unions “at the first opportunity”. “We have to address all the issues to be discussed, without taboos, I have the same hope as them: resolve this as quickly and as best as possible.”
Regarding the first days in the airline, the president of the company trusts that he will have the help of “the unions” and “colleagues”.
Regarding the relationship between TAP and the Government, Luís Rodrigues pointed out that “TAP manages the company, the Government manages what it has to do. It is natural that this is the case”. “This is how the statutes determine it, there is no other way to do things. They are two separate things. Spot”.
