Adolfo Mesquita Nunes is the new vice president of Galp

Adolfo Mesquita Nunes was promoted to vice president of Galp’s Board of Directors, remaining in non-executive functions, which he has held for four years, according to a statement to CMVM, quoted by Expresso. The lawyer was re-elected as non-executive director, but assumes the vice-presidency, one place below Paula Amorim (who remains non-executive president of the company), as approved at the general meeting on Wednesday, May 3.

Its new status was announced in Galp’s statement sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM). Paula Amorim remains Chairman of the Board, with two Vice-Chairmen: Adolfo Mesquita Nunes and Filipe Silva (who is Vice-Chairman by virtue of his role as Executive Chairman – CEO), a position he assumed on January 1 of this year with the departure of Andy Brown.

In addition to Filipe Silva, as CEO, the renewed Galp executive committee now has Maria João Carioca, from CGD, as financial administrator, and João Diogo Silva, Rodrigo Vilanova and Ronald Doesburg also join this governing body. Georgios Papadimitriou is at the forefront of the renewable energy business. The latter was already part of the executive committee.

On the board of directors, with non-executive functions, Paula Amorim and Adolfo Mesquita Nunes, managers Diogo Tavares, Cristina Fonseca, Rui Paulo Gonçalves, Javier Cavada, Jorge Seabra, Cláudia Almeida e Silva, Francisco Teixeira Rêgo, Ana Lúcia Zambelli, Fedra Ribeiro, Carlos Pinto and Marta Amorim (sister of Paula Amorim).

Adolfo Mesquita Nunes is a former leader of the CDS-PP and entered the XIX Constitutional Government as Secretary of State for Tourism. He is a lawyer, partner of Gama Glória since 2016 and assistant professor at Nova School of Business and Economics. He will exercise his new functions until 2026, the date on which the mandate of the bodies elected at the general assembly held this Wednesday ends.
