Start of trial of the SIC lawsuit against Cristina Ferreira postponed

The start of the trial of the process filed by the SIC against the presenter Cristina Ferreira was postponed, according to information available on the Citius portal.

The start of the trial was scheduled for June 21 in the Sintra Court, but now the indication that it has been postponed.

In September 2020, the SIC filed a lawsuit against the presenter and director of fiction and entertainment for TVI, Cristina Ferreira, before the Judicial Court of the District of Lisbon, for the payment of compensation of 20 million euros.

The amount calculated takes into account, other than breach of contract which was in force until 2022, the Losses calculated for loss of income in IVR (contests with calls for added value), advertising, sponsorships and commercial actions.

The departure of Cristina Ferreira from the SIC became known on July 17, 2020, when it was announced that he would return to TVI two months later as a director and become a shareholder of Media Capital.

Almost three years later, Cristina Ferreira, who has always said that “the referred amount has no foundation or contractual basis”, will be heard on June 21 in the process that the station of the Impresa group placed. The same day, The executive president (CEO) of the owner of the SIC, Francisco Pedro Balsemão, will also be heard.

With this postponement, closing arguments, which were scheduled for July 7, will also be postponed.

The Judicial Employees Union (SFJ) began an atypical strike on May 29, carried out in different ways depending on the services and districts, which runs until July 14. This strike is not continuous and the strike notice is valid for the last two days of May, 1, 2, 5 to 9, 12 to 16, 19 to 23 and 26 to 30 June, and the days 3 to 7 and 10 of July 14.
