The Brazilian state oil company, Petrobras, announced this Thursday, September 13, a partnership with the motor and electrical parts manufacturer WEG, to develop the largest onshore wind generator in Brazil, which will be 220 meters high and weigh 1,830 tons.
For the project, which is already being developed by the Brazilian multinational WEG, Petrobras will invest 130 million reais (about 24.5 million euros).
The agreement contemplates the development of technologies for the manufacture of wind turbine components suitable for the country’s wind conditions, as well as the construction and testing of a prototype, with technical and commercial compensation for the state oil company.
According to the statement released by Petrobras, the development of the project will have a “positive impact” on the future of wind energy in Brazil, since the generator will have a power of seven megawatts.
