The weight of taxes per liter of diesel and gasoline this week reached the highest value since April 2022, following the cycle of increases that has penalized diesel the most.
The Minister of Finance, until now, has resisted adopting new measures: Fernando Medina said that he will only act if absolutely necessary. The President of the Republic was clear when he stated, a day later, that “the Government will surely be preparing measures.” Pressure also comes from the markets with the forecast of new price increases focused on diesel, after Russia suspended exports of this product this Thursday.
