Stop Union calls national strike for measurement tests starting Tuesday

The Union of All Education Professionals (Stop) announced this Monday a national strike against the evaluation process and the work associated with evaluation testsstarting Tuesday.

Coordinator André Pestana stated that the strike is justified by the fact that “education professionals continue without a fair and transparent evaluation, which maintains quotas, and by the numerous classes that students missed last year to take evaluation tests. , which places a huge burden on education professionals. .”

At a press conference in Coimbra, the union leader stressed that the strike “is a way to pressure the Government to pay attention to what happens in public schools“, considering that there must be a discussion with teachers to determine if the evaluation tests make sense.

“Parents and grandparents realize that assessment tests, particularly in digital format, have created a lot of anxiety and unnecessary stress, because we are talking about second-grade, 7-year-old children,” he highlighted.

On the other hand, André Pestana highlighted that there is “a great disparity in the treatment of technologies and also between schools in terms of platforms and access itself.” [da internet] to laptops.”

“Students are missing classes, because evaluation tests imply the loss of many normal teaching classes and also overload educational professionals who are already very overloaded with work and, therefore, it is poor management of human resources,” he stated.

According to the Stop coordinator, the strike aims to get the Government to change these models and channel “energy towards teaching and learning”, preventing students from “missing so many classes” and ensuring that teacher evaluation is not “a farce, with completely artificial quotas”. .”

“There must be a special evaluation and remuneration model, not only for school directors, but for all education professionals,” demanded André Pestana.

Until the end of May, pre-strike notices were issued to all teaching and teaching staff.

Between May 2 and 13, schools will be able to carry out the 2nd year evaluation tests of Physical Education and Artistic Education, thus beginning another year of tests and exams at the national level.

Then, between May 16 and 27, it will be time for 5th year students to demonstrate their knowledge in Music Education and 8th year students to take tests in the oral production and interaction component in English.
