The port of Lisbon carried out its annual protection exercise this Thursday morning, in which it evaluated the infrastructure’s response capacity in drug trafficking situations and in which several entities and authorities participated.
In a statement, the port of Lisbon explained that the This year’s exercise “had as a backdrop the entry into the port of a ship suspected of transporting bales of narcotics.”
“During the simulated operation, the authorities approached the vessel and the bales were thrown into the river by the suspects on board, which were collected at different terminals and port facilities,” he explained.
The General Directorate of Natural Resources, Security and Maritime Services (DGRM), the Port Authority, the Coastal and Border Control Unit and the Maritime Police participated in the exercise, through the Tactical Action Group and the Central Criminal Investigation Unit. .
According to the port of Lisbon, all actions “were monitored and evaluated by a Recognized Protection Organization (RPO), guarantee compliance with port security standards and good practices”.
