The Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) suspended the activity of 21 food and beverage establishments and seized 20 kilograms of food, worth 2,250 euros, in an operation announced this Friday.
In a note released this Friday, ASAE states that in recent days it has carried out several inspection actions throughout the country, within the framework of the “Portugal Semper Seguro” campaign, with the aim of verifying compliance with the applicable standards. to restaurants and drinks. including traditional and world cuisineas well as digital food delivery platforms, guaranteeing consumer protection.
During this campaignASAE inspected 305 economic operators from the north to the south of the country, having initiated three criminal proceedings for food unfit for consumption and merchandise fraud.
It also initiated 87 procedures for administrative infractions, highlighting as the main infractions non-compliance with hygiene requirements/violation of the duties of the operating entity, the nonexistence or irregularities in the HACCP system (Hazard Analysis and Critical Point Control), the lack of a Complaints Book and non-compliance in the labeling of food products.
The action was carried out under the coordination of the Internal Security System and whose strategic objectives They aim to reinforce the perception of security in the country.
The “Portugal Always Safe” operation is being carried out by several criminal police forces and is part of the reinforcement of the inspection actions announced by the Government.
