Britney Spears wore an elegant custom Versace gown to marry personal trainer and model Sam Asghari in an intimate ceremony outside Los Angeles on Thursday.
The princess of pop completed her dowry with a large satin veil and a white choker at her wedding at her home in Thousand Oaks, California.
After months of speculation over who would design Spears’ dress, the singer said in an Instagram post that was deleted last year, “Versace is sewing my dress as we speak.”
Donatella Versace, the brand’s creative director, confirmed her involvement on Friday and revealed on social media that her brand is also designing Asghari’s tuxedo.
Sharing a photo of the newlyweds on Instagram, the Italian stylist wrote that Spears “has a very special place in my heart”.
“Designing Britney and Sam’s wedding outfits felt natural to me,” she wrote in the caption. “A tremendous love has been poured into every detail. Together with our Atelier we have created a dress and tuxedo that exudes elegance and splendor. They look perfect together! ”
Versace joined a high-profile guest list that included Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Selena Gomez.
With its classic silhouette and three-metre-long tail, the design featured a plunging neckline and hooded sleeves. The fitted bodice of the dress is pleated at the front, while the skirt is divided into a deep V-shaped leg slit.
Versace rep said Spears also wore pearl-trimmed tulle gloves and a pair of white satin shoes. It took more than 700 hours for the fashion house’s tailors to produce the dress.
According to Vogue, Spears has used diamonds added up to 62 carats in necklaces, bracelets and earrings. The bridal makeup was the work of British makeup artists Charlotte and Sofia Tilbury, and she told ex-fashion magazine she was “excited and honored” to work with Spears on her wedding look.
According to Vogue, there were three outfit changes during the night. Spears then appeared in a red mini dress, a black mini dress and a two-tone outfit, all designed by Versace.
Asghari, who met Spears on the set of the “Slumber Party” music video in 2016, wore a black wool tuxedo for the ceremony. The smooth Versace jacket featured silk satin details and was paired with a white shirt, black loafers and a black silk bow tie.
