War rapper Pat Stay was identified as the victim of a fatal stabbing in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, early Sunday morning.
Police were called to Lower Water Street at around 12:36 PM ET. According to CBC News, Stay was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
An autopsy confirmed that the 36-year-old war rapper from Nova Scotia was indeed the victim of the murder. Halifax District Police did not release any additional information about what led to the stabbings.
Stey was fascinated by battle rap, in which the two rappers took turns insulting each other in front of a mocking audience. According to a TMZ report, he is “known as one of the best battle rappers in the game.”
Five days ago, Stey posted a photo of himself on Instagram, “Imagine treating all our friends and loved ones as if we knew their days were numbered.”

Hearing the news of his death, rappers and others expressed their condolences on social media.

On Friday, Stay posted a YouTube video of one of his latest battle raps that has garnered more than 260,700 views. In the video, rapper Drake can be heard saying, “Pat Stay is definitely one of the best, if not the best.”
Police are asking anyone with information about the stabbing to call 902-490-5020.
