Queen Elizabeth’s official funeral on Monday is expected to be the most watched event in television history. Industry experts already estimate that more than four billion people worldwide will follow the second Elizabethan approach.
If audience numbers are achieved, they will represent more than half of the world’s population and exceed the estimated 3.5 billion audience that followed Muhammad Ali’s opening of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
It will also double the estimated worldwide audience for Live 8 (two billion) in 2005 and Live Aid (1.9 billion) in 1985, with billions more to come. To see Prince Charles marry Diana. 1981 Daily Glasses reports.
The ceremony was the fifth in over 100 years in the UK, but the first to be held anywhere in the world.
The deceased monarch will be buried at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday 19 September, 10 days after his death on Thursday 9 September.
WatchTVAbroad.com television analyst Carolina Beltramo told Metro London:
Queen Elizabeth’s love and admiration around the world was so great that her funeral was designated as the largest televised event in history.
Generations around the world have not lived since the last time luxury and luxury were seen on this scale. […] At least 4.1 billion people are expected to witness this historic moment on Monday when half the people on planet Earth will stop to pay their respects.
It will be a national holiday so that as many people as possible can watch the Queen’s funeral and honor her 70-year reign record.
According to Breitbart London, the coffin will be taken from the Palace of Westminster via the capital to Westminster Abbey in a grand military ceremony Monday morning for a state funeral.
Both public walkways follow the precedent of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s burial when he was buried in 1965.
Senior family members are expected to follow, as are the funerals of Diana, Princess of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh.
After the mass, the coffin will be taken by procession from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch.
Once there, the carriage and procession will continue over the Long Walk, 23 miles west of London, to St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, where it will then be televised.
Eventually, the Queen will be privately buried in the ancient site with her husband and royal ancestors.
