Belarusian scientists have developed new test systems to diagnose monkeypox similar to the COVID-19 diagnostic test.
This was announced on Monday, June 13, by the head of the Belarusian Epidemiology Center, Vladimir Gorbunov.
He said the diagnosis of monkeypox will be based on the classical “BCR” technology, similar to the technology used to diagnose “Covid-19”. Test results will be released a few hours after the essential samples are obtained.
Gorbunov said: “I am convinced that this testing system will not be widely used in our country, because monkeypox is not characterized by the ability to spread rapidly and people are not expected to appear soon.”
Although Russian doctor Mikhail Kogan said that the incubation period for monkeypox is long and can take up to 12 days, however, the disease does not spread quickly, so there is no need for extensive vaccination and enough to be vaccinated. the patient contacts.
According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, vaccination should be carried out 4 days after infection with the virus, and if vaccination is carried out late, the vaccine can reduce the severity of the course of the disease.
