Sometimes it feels good to watch a series in one sitting without it being a marathon effort. And you know it, particularly well, when in the six episodes of this series you are, as a viewer, constantly asking yourself if the naivety has a purpose or if it is part of a moment. At the end of the six episodes of “The Fragrance of the First Flower” it is clear that ingenuity accompanies a world of change in Taiwanese society and therefore this series is –in the best sense– an object of his interest. time, as well as an example of how the language of this change fits into the audiovisual. Does six episodes sound like a lot? The duration is shorter than the last episode of the first volume of the fourth season of “Stranger Things”. They are short episodes, twenty minutes or less, well assembled with the idea of the chapters and what they are for. The particularity of “The Fragrance of the First Flower” is that it is the first series in Taiwan to address the legalization of same-sex marriage, which became legal in mid-2019.
