The Autumn Festival returns to Serralves this weekend after two years suspended

The Autumn Festival will return to Serralves, Porto, next weekend, after two years of suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic, offering new circus shows, concerts, theater, cinema and dozens of workshops and workshops.

After the last edition, in 2019, the Autumn Festival takes place again on Saturday and Sunday and has a “diverse program” to “celebrate autumn, living the most rural area of ​​the Serralves Park”, according to the Serralves Foundation.

One of the highlights of this edition of the Serralves Autumn Festival is the new circus show by the duo Hands Some Feet, which tells a love story between a juggler and a dancer.

The show Hands on feet is intended for an audience over 3 years old, lasts 50 minutes and is scheduled to be held on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 4:00 p.m., in Prado de Serralves.

The Erva Daninha company presents “Rasto”, a contemporary circus show, where an agricultural machine will take on a life of its own, roaring and dancing in the arena. “Rasto” is scheduled for Saturday at 6:15 p.m. and Sunday at 11:45 a.m., always at Espelho de Água.

Music is another of the highlights of the Autumn Festival, which this year features, for example, Bandua, Diabo a Sete, De Mòrt Viva, the Percussion Group of the Portuguese Symphonic Band and Acalanto.

The beginning of autumn will be celebrated with various workshops, field trips, theater and music performances, performances and other activities, with the aim of “highlighting the uniqueness of biodiversity and the landscape, the importance of conserving the spaces of the Serralves Park and reviving valuable arts and crafts,” explains the cultural institution, in a statement.

The activities, for all ages, begin on Saturday, in Prado, at 10:00 a.m., continue until 7:00 p.m. and the same schedules are repeated on Sunday.

“Autumn Colors”, to discover how to transform autumn leaves into authentic “suncatchers”, “Mural in the Park!” to build a mural with a rainbow of the fall season using natural paints, “Baú das Coisas Naturais” to discover seeds, fruits, branches, galls, flowers or “Secretos y Tesoros” to go on a hunt for treasures and secrets that “ Autumn counts”, are some of the activities that families and the general public can do during these two days of celebration.

In the field of theater, among other shows, in Clareira da Presa, the puppet play “O vaqueiro que não liar” will be screened, a ancient Portuguese popular history, worked by the Tuk-Tuk Theater, a mobile theater structure. The show lasts 60 minutes and is intended for ages 6 and up.

The Cinemini Film Festival, aimed at children between 3 and 6 years old, has sessions at the Casa Manoel de Oliveira Auditorium, Saturday and Sunday, at 10:30 am, 11:45 am, 2:15 pm, 3:30 pm and 4: 45 pm, on both days.

In addition to the films, each session includes an educational activity inside the cinema.

Another highlight is the exhibition “The art of mushrooms”, where the public can discover these fungi through painting, photography, collage, sculpture, designsound, digital or textile, by various international artists.

The exhibition is exhibited at Celeiro and Lagar, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Back to Prado de Serralves, there are several workshops created by various founding municipalities of Serralves that are scheduled to take place there, such as the workshop “A Botica do Museu de Aveiro”, not Saturday and Sunday, between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. is that aims to explore the aroma of plants for teas and infusions – lemongrass, sage, peppermint and lavender – and then make a simple salve.

The municipality of Braga brings the workshop “Encontra-me se poder”, on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45. This activity is about illustration and vcollage is used as a technique and participants are challenged to create and find random shapesto start creating a character, setting, or even a short visual narrative.

The workshop “Modelagem em Clay e Pintura de Galos” will arrive from Barcelos, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., so that the public can come into contact with the potters and whose productions have been certified since 2008.

Access to the Autumn Festival is free and is through the Serralves gates on Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa and Rua Bartolomeu Velho.
