DGArtes: project support contests open

The competitions to support projects, in the areas of creation, programming and internationalization, opened today and will close in February, with a total amount of 9.2 million euros, revealed the Directorate General for the Arts (DGArtes).

The annual communiqué of the DGArtes provided that five of the seven tenders to support projects would be opened in October, but that depended on the closure of the sustained support programs and the hearing period of the interested parties.

Of these seven competitions, two have already been opened: architecture, with 350,000 euros, for the representation of Portugal at the Venice Biennale 2023, and the complementary support Creative Europe (450,000 euros) for performing arts, visual arts, disciplinary crossover and arts. of Street.

According to the DGArtes, today “three competitions to support projects were opened, in the fields of creation, programming and internationalization, and a simplified procedure, also for project support”.

These competitions, which support performing arts, street arts, visual arts and architecture, have a total budget of 9.25 million euros, which represents an increase of 1.7 million euros compared to the competitions of 2021.

Broken down by areas, the competition to support projects (creation) closes on February 6, with 1.2 million euros for visual arts and four million euros for performing arts, cross-disciplinary and street arts.

The contest in the area of ​​programming, which ends on February 3, has 2.5 million euros for projects to “support receptions, co-productions and artist residencies.”

The application period for the internationalization contest (900,000 euros) and for the simplified procedure (600,000 euros) ends on February 2, “in the areas of creation, programming, research, training, publishing, national dissemination and strategic mediation actions ”.
