Impulso Festival changes the park for the Caldas da Rainha Cultural and Congress Center with concerts until December

The Impulso festival takes the form of a “season” this year, in an edition that moves from D. Carlos Park to the Caldas da Rainha Cultural Center, hosting the 25 concerts, exhibitions and films of the program until December.

The festival that traditionally takes place in Parque D. Carlos I, in Caldas da Rainha, in the Leiria district, for three days, lasts this year from February to December 2023.

“Last year we felt that the festival had been somewhat isolated over time and that the public needed to have more contact with the programming,” said the organizer and programmer of Impulso, Nuno Monteiro, to the Portuguese agency, justifying the change in format. . with the objective of the event “to be more present in the city and have a little more cultural impact”.

The ‘season’ thus extends into ten dates for the concerts that will bring “25 national and international artists to the city, among various parallel activities such as movies, exhibitions and masterclasses,” the organization announced.

Femme Falafel and A Garota Não open the program on February 14, followed on March 24 by NICØ, Marina Herlop and Expresso Transatlântico.

In April (21), Angélica Salvi, Surma and bb.wav b2b ELBA take the stage. In May (19), it will be the turn of Golden Slumbers and Dino D’Santiago and, in June, Hetta, The Rite of Trio and Trypas Coração. In July, the first part of the program closes with an international night starring Bala Escolha.

Nuno Monteiro told the Portuguese agency that “the rest of the program will be announced on July 1” and will include “more than ten concerts”, all programmed at the Cultural and Congress Center (CCC) of Caldas da Rainha.

The new format also implies changes in the ticket office of the event, normally with a daily ticket of 15 euros and a subscription of 40 euros for the three days.

In the ‘season’ version, the concerts will have prices between six and seven euros for students and, for the general public, tickets will be around 12 euros per session.

In an edition with foreign artists, “ticket collection is key for the event to be sustainable,” explained Nuno Monteiro, adding that the festival has, since the first edition, in 2018, received financial support from the Câmara das Caldas da Rainha, which amounts to 40 thousand euros this year, to program “both the festival and a series of parallel programs, such as exhibitions and film cycles.”

In 2024, Festival Impulso will return “even stronger in its programming and in its relationship with the region that hosts it, recovering artistic residences, international film programming and various alliances with local cultural agents,” the organization also announced in a statement.

According to Nuno Monteiro, next year the open-air party format will resume, in the city park, since, in the future, “on odd years there will be a ‘season’, over the years, at the CCC and , in the companion years, three days of celebration in the park”.

Impulso 2023 is organized by Pulsonar Associação in co-organization with the municipality of Caldas da Rainha and in alliance with the Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha, of the Polytechnic of Leiria (ESAD.CR), and has a total budget of about 100 thousand euros.

The tickets are available ‘online’ through the BOL network, and the organization estimates that the audience for the concerts will reach the same number of visitors as the festival, which usually attracts around five thousand visitors.
