“Operation Black Tide”. A second season is a certainty: Amazon wants to invest more in Portugal

At the end of the first season of the Iberian co-production “Operação Maré Negra” (Prime Video and RTP), Nando (Aléx González), a boxer who is dedicated to drug trafficking between Brazil and the Iberian Peninsula, is arrested. In just four episodes, this miniseries, based on true events about the story of three men who traveled in a homemade submarine full of cocaine from the Atlantic to Europe, began a Portuguese-Spanish co-production with the help of a streaming platform, Prime Video from Amazon.

This Friday, February 10, just over a year later, a second season premieres. In addition to all the episodes being available on this platform, “Operação Maré Negra 2” also debuts on RTP, another of the partners involved in the production. Five episodes, new actors, more creative freedom, without fact, but full of fiction. And a guarantee from the company led by Jeff Bezos: investment in Portugal will increase. “We want to invest much more in this country in local content,” Ricardo Carbonero, Content Director of Prime Video in Spain and Portugal, assures an Observer.
