Ventura accuses Costa Silva of purging. Minister returns: “You have more experience of political purges in your party than I do”

André Ventura, from Chega, and António Costa Silva, Minister of Economy, exchanged bitter words in Parliament about the dismissals in IAPMEI, ANI and changes in the Ministry itself.

The president of Chega questioned Costa Silva several times about the resignation of the president of the ANI. Costa Silva had already said that the Agency would improve, there is no irreplaceable and he asked, in the first response in the debate this afternoon, that they not be fooled by the layoffs.

Costa Silva asks that “not be fooled by the layoffs” in the ANI. “We will further improve” the agency

But André Ventura insisted on knowing why Joana Mendonça resigned, after concluding that Costa Silva did not want to answer about the reasons. But this was the case that led to an exchange of words between the deputy and the minister.

For André Ventura, recalling the layoffs at ANI, at IAPMEI and at the Ministry, he accused: “What is happening is not layoffs. It is a political purge carried out by your ministry and by you. What is happening with layoffs in your ministry? Why do you reject people?

And to the question, Costa Silva returned the accusation. “You have more experience in political purges in your party than I do.”

And he asked André Ventura again, this time, not to be impressed by the sources of layoffs and changes. And he quotes Luís de Camões, “the prince of poets”, that “the world is made of changes and changes will improve organizations”.

In that exchange of words, Ventura replied: “I do not do political purges. I win elections and this is the fifth time I have won elections unlike you who have never won elections. Costa Silva once again considered that “the cases and issues that interest him have very little meaning, they are the foam of the days”, and reinforced that he had meetings with Joana Mendonça. And it was in this response that he once again praised his “extremely meticulous and competent” Secretary of State for the Economy, with an aside for Ventura (similar, by the way, to the criticism he had already made, in a previous hearing, of Mariana Mortágua ) “who sometimes when he speaks it seems that others are worthless, that he has the truth of the world in his head. His Lordship does not have a single idea for the country’s economy. I understand why he takes refuge in cases and cases.

“Backward”, “totalitarian” and “obsessed with the wrong things”. In a hearing in parliament, Costa Silva gets angry with Mariana Mortágua

In another tone, Carlos Guimarães Pinto, from IL, again questioned Costa Silva about the cascade of layoffs. “Members of Parliament often accuse the government of being fossilized, of doing nothing, and when changes are made, carmo and trinidade collapse. The change is part of the visa The teams are in continuous evaluation. We want to have the best people, in the best places, so that organizations function as they should”. And he remembers the changes at Banco de Fomento, which he says “today has a completely different dynamic.” It doesn’t mean that whoever was there before didn’t do their job. “Many times they instill new dynamics, new reorganizations and a new focus on what has to be answered” and he ends with the advice “read the theory of organizations”.
