The US House of Representatives will vote this week on separate military aid plans for Ukraine and Israel, after months of deadlock, the leader of the US House of Congress said.
“This week we will consider separate bills,” including those to “fund the Israeli ally” and “support Ukraine in the war against Russian aggression,” Republican Mike Johnson said Monday.
“There are sudden developments around the world that we are all following closely,” Johnson said at a news conference, in apparent reference to the more than 300 drones and missiles launched at Israel between Saturday night and Sunday.

On the social network (formerly Twitter), the Republican explained that the plans will also support US allies in the Indo-Pacific region and approve additional measures to strengthen the country’s national security.
Johnson left open the possibility that the projects could eventually be combined into a single package, but said he preferred they be studied and approved individually.
The announcement came just hours after US President Joe Biden reiterated his urgent call on Congress to adopt a budget of tens of billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine, blocked by the Republican opposition.
