Scientists have made a breakthrough in the field of thermonuclear reactions

British fusion company Tokamak Energy claims to have made a breakthrough in the field of fusion magnets. Recordr.

The company has developed a new technology that can withstand electromagnetic bombardment from the thermonuclear reaction while holding it in place. To test the technology, the company plans to dismantle the custom gamma-ray cryostat system at Oxford headquarters, ship it to the United States, and rebuild it at the gamma-irradiation facility at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Sandia Laboratory in Albuquerque.

Tokamak Energy will test its superconducting magnets at the center, one of the few places in the world where the system can be deployed, and expose them to gamma radiation comparable to what would be expected from a fusion power plant. Research and analysis of individual sets of magnets will be carried out over six months.
