Scientists have found an antidote for the most poisonous mushroom on the planet

A group of scientists may have discovered an antidote to the galena fungus, one of the world’s most famous natural poisons. A new study details experiments showing that a common medicinal dye can neutralize the deadly effects of this fungus on mice.

Considering the currently approved methods of application, experts believe that this paint can save the lives of many people in the near future.

According to one of the recent studies, more than 30,000 cases and nearly 800 deaths have been recorded from mushroom poisoning in the last 10 years. Even in the United States, thousands of calls are made to poison control centers each year regarding poisonous mushrooms.

The deadly gallery fungus is a particularly common cause of human death, and by some estimates accounts for more than 90% of all fungal-related deaths.
