Researcher showed what Pharaoh Ramses II looked like before his death

Cicero Moraes, a Brazilian researcher and 3D designer who specializes in computer reconstruction of the appearance of ancient people, was born to Pharaoh II when he was nearly 90 years old. He recreated Ramses’ face.

Moraes used a 3D model of the skull of a pharaoh who ruled ancient Egypt between 1279 and 1213 BC to recreate the appearance of the ruler on his deathbed.

“There is always criticism of any work published on the internet, look at the comments in the news and the discussions on social media,” Moraes said. “I am for freedom of expression. I have never blocked anyone from my networks because they think differently from me or because they are offended. “But I also have freedom of expression and I often use it to clarify points and refute inconsistent things.”

The team also used information from a 1976 study of the mummified remains of Ramses found in 1881, repairing tissue and creating new bandages. The study also showed that Ramses II had a significant overbite and that his teeth were significantly worn.

The pharaoh also had poor dental and bone health, due to an abscess that was causing him a lot of pain.
