Rubio on Cavanaugh threat: ‘I have a terrible feeling about it’

On Wednesday, Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) expressed concern that new threats to Supreme Court Justices could follow up on the threat sent to Assistant Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

Rubio said he had a “terrible premonition” to FNC’s “Hannity” and described the situation as “incredibly serious”.

“I have a terrible feeling, Sean,” he said. “I think it’s going in a very dangerous direction. I think the last time I was on a show from this studio, I said it before and that’s why: this is a country, 331 million people, okay? People who say these members of the Supreme Court are the equivalent of the Ku Klux Klan to the Nazis. You’ve got some words to tear this place down. Three hundred and thirty-one million people, just a few of them look at this, well, if these people are so bad, the next step is to eliminate them. And that’s just Supreme Court justices who don’t have US Police outside their homes. Not to mention we have hundreds of members of Congress, and you know we want to thank the U.S. Police Department for the role they’ve played. Today is another day in Washington.”

“But this is an incredibly serious matter,” Rubio continued. “He’s not the only person in America with such thoughts, and I have a bad feeling about which direction this is going. I don’t want this to happen to anyone. I don’t want to show anyone the protesters near Nancy Pelosi’s house or Chuck Schumer’s house. I think it’s a statement. “There’s a time, a place, and a way to organize your freedom. You can say whatever you want, but there must be some restrictions on that. And in this particular case, it’s against the law because it’s the judges they’re trying to intimidate into making the judgment they want in the court case.”

The Florida Republican MP also suggested that the purpose of the protests was to intimidate judges.

“[T]”The only reason protesters leave the home of a public figure is to send them a clear message: we know where you live,” he said. “Now maybe there are a hundred people out there, and none of those hundreds of people can be with anyone. But I’ll tell you. Someone is watching. Someone writes on the Internet where that person lives, and that idiot will come out of someone’s house and eventually hurt them.”

“This is an unfortunate trend we’re seeing today,” Rubio added. “He’s very dangerous. We don’t have to play with him. We’re playing with fire. I’m not saying he wouldn’t have done it if this guy was really crazy. I mean, when you promote that, when you call your political opponents bloodthirsty people, people who take your rights away from you like the Ku Klux Klan, these few people are going to be pretty ruthless.” . dramatic and dangerous acts, and that was averted last night, thank goodness. But I don’t think we saw it last time, unfortunately.”
