Former Cape Verdean President Jorge Carlos Fonseca will lead the CPLP observation mission to the Angolan general elections, the former Head of State announced on Tuesday, after being received by the Angolan President, João Lourenço, in Luanda.
Speaking to the press at the end of the hearing, Jorge Carlos Fonseca said that he approached, with João Lourenço, issues related to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and added that the visit to Angola also aims to meet with the Cape Verdean community in the country.
Jorge Carlos Fonseca reported that he will soon return to Luanda to head a CPLP observation mission for the fifth general elections that Angola will hold on August 24.

Angola currently holds the presidency of the CPLP, a Portuguese-speaking organization that, until 2021, was chaired by Cape Verde for two years.
