Raskin: January 6 Investigation Obtains ‘Waterfall of Truth’ From Over A Thousand Witnesses

Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said on MSNBC’s “All In” on Thursday that the House Election Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 riot received a “waterfall of truth” from “more than a thousand witnesses”.

“When you work from the bottom up, like this committee does, some people from lower levels, like Cassidy Hutchinson, know a lot. He was ready to step into the traffic light and tell the world that he knew and made a lot of people look bad. And suddenly, most of these people want to get their records. With the many investigations Donald Trump has been subjected to, he has kept his escalation from gaining momentum, maintaining a sort of rule of silence around him. But so far, with this investigation, it doesn’t seem to be working.

“Let me ask your understanding of what seems like a lot of momentum despite months of witness collaboration, and what’s driving it?” she added.

“It’s like a waterfall of reality at this point,” Raskin said. We reversed that, starting with the big lie, as is Donald Trump’s dynamic of lies and deception. When your 1000+ witnesses come and tell you what happened, the small handful of people who lie or refuse to participate start to feel very nervous about the situation because we fill in all the details of what happened. So I totally agree with the different dynamics you describe. One more thing I would add is that a lot of people out there have seen Trump loyalists say some things. For example, I remember when Jared Kushner was asked about Pat Cipollone’s threat to resign, and he actually said it to the point of grumbling for himself. This could not endear himself to Pat Cipollone, who had not yet been examined. Basically, a small group of people see how Donald Trump spins the wagons around and are ready to throw everyone under the bus to confuse that metaphor.
