The Government extended the reimbursement period for rapid antigen tests for professional use against Covid-19, prescribed by the National Health Service, until the end of August, according to an ordinance published this Wednesday in the Diário da República.
The extension of the reimbursement of rapid antigen tests for professional use until the end of August implies that they are prescribed by the SNS and that not cost the State more than 10 euros.
Although the evolution of the epidemiological situation has shown some stabilization, given the importance of performing diagnostic tests to screen for SARS-CoV-2 infection (…) with the purpose of referring symptomatic people and early detection of confirmed cases, it is important to ensure the maintenance of the validity of the established exceptional and temporary regime, continuing to guarantee access and performance” of the tests, says the ordinance signed by the Undersecretary of State and Health.
The ordinance went into effect Monday and valid until August 31 without prejudice to its possible extension.
The Covid-19 detection tests are carried out in pharmacies, duly registered in the Registration System of Regulated Establishments of the Health Regulatory Entity (ERS) and in the National Epidemiological Surveillance System (SINAVE), and duly registered and authorized before the National Authority for Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed).
Portugal registered, between July 19 and 25, 29,277 infections by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, 72 deaths associated with Covid-19 and maintained the decrease in hospitalizations, according to the latest weekly epidemiological report from the DGS.
