According to Forbes magazine, according to a study conducted by the Kyiv School of Economics, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has caused 108.3 billion dollars of damage to the country’s infrastructure.
Russia’s war in Ukraine damaged or destroyed 105,200 cars, 43,700 agricultural machines, 764 kindergartens, 1,991 shops and 634 cultural centers, according to researchers from the Kyiv School of Economics, who collaborated with several Ukrainian ministries to conduct the analysis.
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry estimated on Tuesday that the war damaged at least 140,000 apartment buildings, while the Kyiv School of Economics estimated that 114,700 private homes were damaged or destroyed.
According to the study, the war caused $47.7 billion in damage to apartment buildings and private homes.
Meanwhile, the damage to transportation infrastructure, including roads and airports, was 31.6 billion dollars.
Repairing infrastructure damage will require $185 billion, according to the report.
As of May, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has cost the country nearly $600 billion, according to estimates by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and a previous study by the Kyiv School of Economics.
Russian missile strikes have targeted and destroyed thousands of Ukrainian infrastructure, including railways, apartment buildings and hospitals.
According to United Nations estimates, the war in Ukraine has displaced more than 8 million people, and more than 6.5 million have fled to neighboring countries, including Poland and Moldova, since the Russian invasion began in February.
The United States and its European allies have given Ukraine billions of dollars in aid since the war began.
And the administration of US President Joe Biden announced on Monday that it plans to send another $550 million in military aid to Ukraine, bringing total US aid to more than $7 billion.
